How To Follow Twitter Parties Using SmartStream

It looks like our old Twitter party favorites Tweetgrid and Tweetchat are having some issues, and they will stop working altogether in June. You can use Tweetgrid as usual, but you may not see all tweets during the party.

We recommend trying OneQube’s SmartStream to make the most of your Twitter party experience. We’ve posted a step-by-step guide below on how to use it.

Remember, you don’t HAVE to use this tool. We think it’s a neat way to follow and participate in a Twitter party but if it’s not for you, you can stick to following the party on Twitter.com! Got questions? Now is the time to ask. Make sure you’re all set up before the party starts so you’re ready to go!

Using SmartStream

There are 5 quick steps to joining the party using the SmartStream.

  1. Visit OneQube.com and select “Register with Twitter”
  2. Authorize oneQube to use your account. Don’t worry, it’s safe. This just allows you to tweet through their software.
  3. Fill out the form and click “Get Started”. You can write “Smiley360″ in the company field.
  4. And you’re in! Note that you only need to register once. The next time you come back, select “Login” at Step 1.
  5. Type the party hashtag (for example #BakingSodaTips) into the hashtag box and click “Set Hashtag”) Wait a few seconds for the tweets to display. Important: do not forget the ‘#’ symbol!

Once you’re in, you can party until you drop all from your SmartStream.

  1. Write your tweets in the tweet box and click tweet. The hashtag is conveniently pre-loaded into the tweet so you don’t have to type it every time. Pro tip: you can click & drag this box to wherever you want on the screen. Try putting it at the top!
  2. When this blue box appears, click it to see the newest tweets. This handy feature means you don’t have to miss a single tweet!
  3. This is what a tweet looks like. You can Reply and Retweet as normal.
  4. When you see @Smiley360 tweet the party question, it’s time to answer it! Remember, you don’t need to hit “Reply” when answering a question from us. As long as you have the party hashtag, we’ll see your tweet. It’s a great way to save characters! Please also label your answers with A1, A2, A3, etc.

Don’t know what a Twitter party is? It’s a virtual get-together of Smiley members on Twitter! Our members always ask us about ways to meet each other – and now you can! Join us for one of our regular parties!

Do you have any questions? Ask us on Twitter @Smiley360 or by email to member.support@smiley360.com. See you at the party!! -The Smiley360 Community Team

Featured Member: Julie

Julie is a Level 4 Smiley member from Missouri. Read what she has to say about her Smiley membership!

Tell us about yourself, your family and where you live!
My name is Julie Davis and I live in O’Fallon, Missouri. Me and my husband have been married for almost ten years. We have a 5-year-old son that keeps us very busy!

What do you like about being a Smiley member?
I love being able to spread the word about products I’ve tested for Smiley. My friends and family love having real life reviews on products. A lot of the products are things I’d buy or use anyway, so it’s always great to get those boxes in the mail!

What has been your favorite Smiley360 mission you have ever done and why?
I think my favorite Smiley mission is the Advil Congestion Relief. This winter has been brutal with colds, so I’ve been passing out coupons left and right. The Advil Congestion Relief helped relieve my cold over the holidays!

Tell us all about how you share when you’re on a Smiley360 mission!
I love to share ideas and tips with my family and friends. I often interact with other parents and teachers and they love hearing about my latest mission and the feedback that I have!

Do you think it is important for brands to listen to their customers? Why?
I do think it’s important for brands to listen to customers. We are the people buying those products and we need good quality products. If the products don’t work, they need to know that and come up with other solutions.

What’s your favorite piece of technology you own? Why?
My favorite piece of technology is my Android phone. I didn’t think I’d use it as much as I do. It really comes in handy when you need to look something up on the internet and you’re in the middle of nowhere. Love being able to check email and keep up on Facebook while I’m out and about.

What brands or products could you not live without?
I could not live without Tide. Tide is a great laundry detergent and I can usually find it on sale and use a coupon. Another product I couldn’t live without right now is Lego. My son is loving putting together Lego sets. I must admit I like it myself, too!

We love your comments! Post your reaction in the comments below.

8 Activities To Keep Your Family Busy This Summer

The heat has started here in Southern California which means summer is right around the corner! Now this means that kids are out of school and parents now have to try to figure out what to do to keep those kiddos entertained. We have a three year old so we actually need to come up with ideas all year long to keep our family busy. We not only like to do events on the weekends but during the week as well. We feel this saves us from feeling like the week is dragging and puts a little kink in the routine.

I am one of those people who must always have the calendar updated with various events that we can hit, depending on what we feel like doing that day. That is why I suggest that each family have a calendar in which you can place all events and refer to. We use Google Calendar and have them synced on our iPhones (my husband and I) so we can both update and see what can be done a certain day. There are so many different ones out there and various designed for families so look around.

Now the trick is finding all these family friendly events that are out there without having to break the bank! We are a one income family so we need to have events that don’t cost us a whole lot but we still want to have fun. Here are just some of my suggestions… even though we are in Southern California, use these as guidelines for your home town to start looking for things to do.

  1. Amusement Parks: This is a given. Getting a membership to an amusement
park seems so expensive to have to come up with the money right away but they are such a great way to have a backup plan when you just want to get out of the house! We have one to Disneyland because we are 15 minutes from there and love to be able to just drop in for an hour or two during the week.
  2. Aquariums, Children Museums, Zoos: These are also great for summertime. Besides having your admission paid for every time you visit, keep track of any events they might be having during the month that are only available to members or allow discounts to members. Our local zoo has an AWESOME toddler class that is twice a month and is only $5.00 per class because we are members.
  3. Book Stores and Libraries: Most book stores such as Barnes and Noble have story time for young ones and sometimes they have special events where they bring in characters from your kids’ favorite books. Also check your local library. During the summer months they add events because they know kids need to be kept busy and are great for families to do something together.
  4. Craft Stores and Home Improvement Stores: I just recently discovered that Michaels has classes designed for little ones to do crafts plus once a month certain ones have Family Craft times where you can get everyone involved. They are low priced and allow you can register ahead of time or just show up. Also your local Home Improvement Stores have great building activities on the weekends where all materials are provided and the kids get to make some cool stuff.
  5. Community Centers: Every semester we receive a manual from our local community center that has a schedule of classes for all ages, adults, kids and families for anything from sports to art classes. These have been such a huge life saver for my husband who stays home with our little one. Included with the classes is a list of family events going on around our neighborhood throughout the summer including concerts in the park, 4th of July events and movies in the park! Keep an eye out for them or log onto their website to see what they have available.
  6. Local Mall: Most malls have family events during the week or on the weekends that range from cooking classes for little ones to crafting. Check your local mall website where they will post events for the mall and for stores located in the malls.
  7. Bowling, Miniature Golf, Family Centers, etc.: Always check the websites to your local family centers for free events or discount days. These will be very common during the next couple of months! During the summer, kids can bowl for free at certain bowling arenas, check your local place.
  8. Theaters: Many movie theaters have days during the week where ticket prices are a lot less than the regular ticket prices. This might be a great way to get out of the house during the week without having to break the bank. Also check your local theater, some are showing kids flicks on certain mornings for only a $1.00!

Several times I have been asked by friends and family members how do I know what is going on around us and how do I keep us so busy! Well I have my list of places that once a month I sit down on my computer and check their websites for events happening. I then add those that I think we would be interested in doing this way they are at our fingertips when we want something to do!

Make the best of these summer days with your kids! They only stay little so long and this is the time to make memories. Although I will admit that I also do this for selfish reason, it is nice to get out of the day to day work day routine that we get sucked into and have a little fun during the week!

Marriedtogeek.net is a blog about figuring out motherhood and what the heck my GEEK husband is talking about all at the same time. I blog and tweet about family, food, product reviews and giveaways.

Verify Your Shipping Address to Receive Smiley Kits

We’ve introduced a new feature to your Smiley profile – address verification. What does this mean? We match your address with the USPS system to make sure you have given us your correct mailing address. This means we send your Smiley kits to the correct place, and your missions don’t get lost in the mail!

Take a second to verify your address now:

  1. Log in to Smiley360 using your email address or Facebook account
  2. Visit “Profile Info” and click on the new tab “Shipping Address”
  3. Input your mailing address and click submit. You will see one of these symbols:

If you see a red X next to your address, that means that your address could not be verified as typed, and you must re-type it or enter a different address.

If you see a green checkmark next to your address, that means it has been verified and you’re good to go!

If you see neither an X or a checkmark, it means we still need time to process your address. In this case, please check back in 24 hours.

Potential reasons why your address could not be verified:

  • there is a typo somewhere in your address or ZIP code
  • the United States Postal Service database does not recognize your address

So, is your address verified?

Meet The Smiley Team: Donal

In a new series of monthly blog posts, we’re shining a spotlight on the people behind Smiley. First up is Community Manager Donal!

What is your role at Smiley?

As a Community Manager, I’m out there making sure that Smiley members are, well, smiling! I read all of your questions and comments on Facebook and Twitter and help out Smiley members in need. I also write a lot of the communication you see from Smiley: emails, Facebook posts, tweets and blog posts. We always have missions going on and a lot of updates to send!

Where are you from and how long have you been with Smiley?

I’m from a very small town in Ireland. I moved to New York two years ago and that’s where I found Smiley! New York is such an exciting place to live and work. There’s always something fun to do!

What’s the best part of your job?

That’s an easy question to answer. I love seeing members getting excited about missions. It’s very rewarding to see so many people enjoy being a part of the Smiley community. I also get on a Smiley mission every so often. There’s something exciting about getting a Smiley kit in the mail!

What have been some of your favorite missions?

The recent Campbell’s Go Soup Mission was a great one to be a part of. I received the Spicy Chorizo flavor and it was one of the most delicious and easy meals I’ve eaten. I also shared the finger mustache tattoos at a party and they were a big hit!

What are three things you can’t live without?

My smartphone, a daily cup of coffee and smiley360.com!

What is one thing you’d like to say to members of the Smiley community?

We wouldn’t even exist without you so enthusiastically sharing on your missions. So I’d like to say thank you! And we love hearing from you, so please say hi anytime!
